Colombina, for the eighth consecutive year, is in the top 10 of the most sustainable food companies in the world.

February 07 2024

- The company ranked seventh among the 395 companies in the food sector measured in the S&P Global Corporate Assessment, which made it worthy of being part of its Sustainability Yearbook 2024.
- Colombina also obtained a perfect score in the recertification conducted by the Equipares Equity Management System, being the only one in the country with this score.

Cali, February 7, 2024. Colombina, the global food company of Colombian origin, has achieved the remarkable feat of securing a position in the top 10 of the world's most sustainable food companies for the eighth consecutive year, according to the corporate sustainability assessment by S&P Global, ranking at #7. In addition, Colombina reached another historic milestone as the only company in the country to garner a perfect rating of 100/100 in all dimensions evaluated by the Equipares Seal, showcasing its effective actions to address gender gaps.

S&P Global, a firm that assesses the sustainable management practices of the largest global companies through credit ratings and risk analysis, promotes transparent comparative valuations that support growth and inform decision-making. Colombina has participated in this evaluation for several years, consistently demonstrating its commitment to sustainable management across six priorities: ecological balance, social development, promotion of competitiveness, employee well-being, transparency and nutrition, as well as continuous growth.

The results in environmental matters underscore the efforts to reduce Colombina's carbon footprint, with a 37% reduction in emissions over the last 8 years. This was achieved through significant investments in state-of-the-art technology to enhance processes and make them more environmentally friendly, the complete elimination of coal in production processes, and sourcing 100% of electricity consumption from renewable sources.

Colombina also received an excellent qualification in waste management, with three production plants already obtaining Zero Waste Certification.

"We are honored to be recognized as one of the food companies with the best sustainability practices in the world. This achievement is a result of the hard work and commitment of our entire team. It motivates us to continue advancing on our path towards sustainability” said César Caicedo, Colombina CEO.

In the health and nutrition dimension, the company achieved a perfect score of 100/100, thanks to actions aimed at improving the nutritional profile of products with a positive social impact. Seventy-one percent of the company's sales correspond to products with lower percentages of saturated fat, sugar, and sodium. Colombina has also eliminated artificial additives and added positive nutrients.

The company's management of equity and inclusion in the labor area is highlighted, making it the first company in Colombia to obtain a perfect score in the Equipares Gold Seal recertification. Equipares certification explores eight dimensions: recruitment, remuneration, professional development, training, work-life balance, work environment, workplace and sexual harassment, and non-sexist communication. Based on these evaluation points, a gender-sensitive organizational diagnosis is conducted, and an appropriate strategy is defined.

Finally, according to S&P Global, Colombina has efficiently implemented its digital strategy through its Rall-e platform to support shopkeepers. This solution enables them to keep their businesses stocked, reduce out-of-stock at the point of sale, and address their needs using technology. The platform consolidates the main categories in one place, freeing up time for salespeople and delivery personnel from different suppliers, and allowing them to focus on their core business activities.
