The Cup also stimulates socialization skills and a healthy athletic lifestyle for 7- to 17-year-olds, who can become recognized soccer players, such as Alexis Viera, Natalia Giraldo, Kelly Caicedo – past participants in The Colombina Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup.

The Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup has six age categories: Sub-8, Sub-10, Sub-12, Sub-14, Sub-16 and Sub-17: Sub-17 is only for women. The tournament is held in three stages – the first is the Departmental Eliminatory Matches that end in June and sets up the finals roster.

The Departments of Valle del Cauca, Bogota, Cundinamarca and Antioquia have historically had greater participation in the tournament. San Andres Island is off in the Gulf Coast near Central America and therefore only has the Sub-14 and Sub 16  categories, who go straight onto the national finals held in La Paila, in the Department of Valle del Cauca.

This year’s winners will take home the Grand Bon Bon Bum 2023 Cup trophy, medals, sporting accessories, such as balls, cleats, cones and uniforms, along with Colombina candy. Special mention is given to the tournament’s MVP, top goal-scorer and best goalie among others.
