Cali, Colombia – July 18, 2025. What happens when two iconic brands come together, driven by pure fan passion? You get the Bon Bon Bum x Tajín Remix—a bold new flavor mashup that brings together the sweet, fruity taste of Bon Bon Bum with the tangy, spicy kick of Tajín. This unexpected fusion is a celebration of Latin culture, creativity, and flavor.
Launching as a limited edition across key markets—Colombia, the United States, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Puerto Rico—the collaboration is projected to generate over $5 million in sales during its first year.
A flavor remix born from fans
This idea didn’t come from a boardroom—it came straight from the fans. In 2023, social media began buzzing with DIY flavor hacks that mixed Bon Bon Bum lollipops with a sprinkle of Tajín. Colombina and Tajín listened, tracked the growing trend, and teamed up to bring the flavor dream to life.
“For nearly a year, both teams worked closely to make this idea a reality. The result is a product that combines, without altering any formulas, the unmistakable Bon Bon Bum flavors of passion fruit and watermelon with Tajín’s signature chili-lime seasoning—creating a surprising and delicious sensory experience,” said Mauricio Escobar, VP of Marketing at Colombina.
For Colombina, the remix is an opportunity to strengthen Bon Bon Bum’s footprint in the U.S., where Tajín has long been a cultural staple and lovemark. Meanwhile, in markets like Colombia and Central America—where Bon Bon Bum leads the bubble gum lollipop category—Tajín gains even more visibility and relevance.
Two iconic brands with global fanbases
Bon Bon Bum was created by Colombina in 1970, inspired by founder Jaime H. Caicedo, who discovered a revolutionary candy-making machine at a fair in the Netherlands. The idea: combine candy and gum in a single lollipop. After years of perfecting the product, Bon Bon Bum became an instant hit. Today, it’s sold in nearly 90 countries, with over 2 billion units sold annually—making it the #1 bubble gum lollipop in Latin America.
Tajín, launched in 1985 from a beloved family recipe, combines dried chili peppers, dehydrated lime, and sea salt in a unique blend. By 1993, it had entered the U.S. market, and by the early 2000s, it was gaining fans across Central America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Today, it’s the leading chili-lime seasoning worldwide, available in more than 65 countries, with consistent double-digit growth year over year.
“Bon Bon Bum x Tajín is the perfect fusion of two beloved products that have crossed borders and cultures. It’s a simple yet unforgettable combo—fun, flavorful, and easy to enjoy anywhere, anytime. We’re thrilled to see how Tajín has become a part of daily life around the world, and we’re confident this remix will turn fans into true brand ambassadors,” said Haydee Fernández Macias, Director of Strategic Alliances at Productos Tajín.
With this collaboration, Colombina and Tajín are doubling down on innovation and cultural connection, delivering flavor experiences that celebrate what makes each brand special: bold taste, emotional connection, and staying close to the people who love them most.
